3 days of enjoying magnificent views and sweets from Hokkaido
Arrive at New Chitose Airport and depart from Tokachi-Obihiro Airport

DAY 1

This trip to Hokkaido will start from Doremo LeTAO in Chitose, about 10 minutes from New Chitose Airport by rental car. A shop & café run by LeTAO, a popular sweets shop known for its cheesecake known as Double Fromage. You will be enveloped in the fragrance of baking bread even before you step into the shop as the bakery is adjacent to it. Once you enjoy lunch and dessert made with local ingredients, you will finish charging up energy for your trip. After stopping by Maoinooka Park Rest Area, you will hop on the Doto Expressway towards Hoshino Resorts TOMAMU. Soothe your exhaustion from the day’s movement in the suite room that comes with a hot tub.

ACCESS
Arrive at New Chitose Airport → (10 minutes by car) → Doremo LeTAO → (20 minutes by car) → Maoinooka Park Rest Area → (1 hour 25 minutes by car) → Stay at Hoshino Resorts TOMAMU

DAY 2

On the second day, wake up a little early and have breakfast before taking a gondola to Unkai Terrace. When you stand on the observation deck that opened in the summer of 2021, you will feel as if you are on top of the sky. Spend a leisurely time at the café while gazing at the beautiful scenery. Next, head to some locations boasting magnificent views in Tokachi. Visit Tokachi Hill Observatory which offers a sweeping view of Tokachi Plain, Naitai Terrace at the peak of Naitai Highland Farm, the most expansive public farm in Japan spamming an area of approximately 1,700ha, and Taushubetsu River Bridge. Depending on the time of year, the Taushubetsu River Bridge may be completely submerged underwater, which offers a magical view. After a fulfilling second day exploring the magnificent sceneries of Hokkaido, you will stay at Tokachigawa Onsen for the night.

Unkai Terrace → (1 hour 10 minutes by car) → Roadside Station Garden Spa Tokachigawa→(5 minutes by car) → Tokachi Hill Observatory → (1 hour by car) → Naitai Terrace → (1 hour 25 minutes by car) → Taushubetsu River Bridge → (1 hour 40 minutes by car) → Tokachigawa Onsen

DAY 3

On the third day, head to Ryugetsu Sweetpia Garden, known for its Sanporoku and Anbatasan. This is a store where you can tour the factory and try your hand at making sweets as well. You can take on the challenge of baking a cake in 30 minutes. Next, head to the main branch of Rokkatei, a traditional shop that sells famous sweets from Hokkaido. When you purchase souvenirs, don’t forget to try their takeout menu Sakusaku Pie as well. After having lunch at Jingisukan Shirakaba Obihiro Main Branch, head to the last location of this trip, Hiroo Santaland (*). This is the only Santaland in Japan recognized by Oslo, Norway, the hometown of Santa Clause. Once you have chosen a Christmas ornament to commemorate your trip, keep it with you carefully until you get home.

(*) Hiroo Santaland is closed until mid-October as it is undergoing renovation. As a replacement location, we recommend stopping by Rokka Forest (Nakasatsunai) which is open until mid-October.
