Stay at trendy hotels in Sapporo and Asahikawa!
A 3-day girls' trip to go shopping, visit cafes, and enjoy the autumn foliage of the Daisetsuzan Volcanic Group
Arrive at New Chitose Airport and depart from Asahikawa Airport

DAY 1

Departing from New Chitose Airport, take a 50-minute drive along the Hokkaido Expressway by rental car to arrive at the Sapporo city center. In Sapporo, where all of Hokkaido's delicious dishes can be found, start off by grabbing something to eat. There are so many choices, from the Genghis Khan to soup curry and miso ramen, but the classic first meal after landing in Hokkaido has to be sushi. After enjoying the satisfying, fresh seafood, head to "space1-15", where the studios of many distinctive artists are located. Enjoy chatting with the artists and pick up your favorite one-of-a-kind artworks. Then, take a break at a cafe before heading to the Jozankei Onsen in Sapporo's tourist district. Your stay will be at the newly opened Grand Blissen Hotel Jozankei. Spend the evening soaking in the fantastical scenery of the hot spring valley illuminated by the Jozankei Nature Luminarie.

DAY 2

Take a hot spring bath in the morning to get in condition for the day ahead, and after you check out, take a stroll around the hot spring district. In recent years, many wonderful cafes, bakeries, and pastry shops have opened in Jozankei Onsen. If you see a shop that interests you, take a look inside. Once you leave Jozankei Onsen, head straight for Asahikawa via the Hokkaido Expressway. Keep an eye out for your favorite works as you check out the studios of potters, glass artists, and woodworkers that dot the quiet residential area known as Kita-no-Arashiyama. Spend the second night in the city center of Asahikawa. Enjoy some time to talk over a relaxing meal at one of the reputable restaurants within walking distance of the hotel.

DAY 3

On the final day, stop by the Roadside Station Asahikawa as you head to Mount Asahi of the Daisetsuzan Volcanic Group, the earliest place in Hokkaido to see autumn foliage and the first snowfall. Take the Daisetsuzan Mount Asahi Ropeway from the station at the foot of the mountain to the summit. The ropeway takes about 10 minutes for a one-way trip and offers spectacular scenery. The view from the summit station is already amazing, but since you're there, take a walk along the trail, about an hour long, to experience the natural beauty of the Daisetuzan mountains. Comfortable walking shoes and warm clothes are a must, but if you don't have them, you can rent a pair of boots at the summit station. If you’re lucky, you may spot Ezo squirrels or snow rabbits on the trail. After having your fill of nature, head to the town of Higashikawa at the foot of the mountain. The town is dotted with furniture and woodworking studios, and you can enjoy visiting the shops and galleries there. Asahikawa Airport is located close by. Explore the town as much as you can, time permitting.
