Daisetsuzan Asahidake

At 2,291 meters above sea level, the main peak of Mt. Daisetsu. The earliest autumn leaves in Japan.

The Chishima cherry blossoms usually bloom in mid-June as the "Japan's slowest blooming cherry blossoms", and in late August, the "Japan's earliest autumn leaves" begin to show. Asahidake is a popular mountain that is visited by many people during the high season from the opening of the mountain in June to the changing of the leaves in early October. The center offers a variety of information on tours and how to enjoy nature, so it is a good place to gather information before hiking. The ropeway is a great way to get up to the top of the mountain if you don't want to do any serious climbing. You can enjoy a spectacular view from the air! Don't miss the beauty of the "Sugatami Pond," which can be reached in 30 minutes on foot along the boardwalk from Sugatami Station. Take a leisurely stroll, stopping to admire the alpine plants.
