Notsuke Peninsula Nature Center

A mysterious peninsula with the desolate Todowara and colorful native flower gardens

The Notsuke Peninsula is a long and narrow peninsula with a total length of about 26 km. From the Nature Center, you can enjoy a distant view of Todowara, a desolate landscape of still-standing dead Sakhalin fir trees, and Kunashiri Island can be seen in front of you. The native flower gardens along the boardwalk leading from the Nature Center to Todowara are a sight to behold and add a colorful touch to the peninsula during the summer. There is also a soft-serve ice cream store on the first floor of the Nature Center and a restaurant where you can taste Notsuke's seafood.
