From the Daisetsuzan Asahidake Ropeway you can enjoy the view of the 50km-long chain of 2000-meter-high mountains, including Mt. Asahidake, the highest mountain in Hokkaido. Every year, in mid-June, the Chishima-zakura cherry trees bloom in the garden near the parking lot as the latest blooming cherry blossoms in Japan. The autumn foliage season also come early, with the leaves usually turning red in late August and yellow in late September, covering the mountain surface like a carpet.
