Asahiyama Zoo

Japan's northernmost zoo conveys the brilliance of life in all its liveliness

The zoo's main attraction are its "behavioral exhibits," which draw out the habits and behaviors of the animals and allow you to see their natural instincts and characteristics in all their liveliness. At the Giraffe House and Hippo House, two of the recommended spots, you can observe from various angles the giraffes running in the large enclosure and the hippos moving gracefully in the water. Also, don't miss other popular exhibits, such as polar bears that you can observe up close, seals that swim freely in a cylindrical tank, and penguins that swim as if they were flying.
