Tomamu Ice Village

Extraordinary experiences at minus 30 degrees Celsius in Tomamu

The Hoshino Resort Tomamu is one of Hokkaido's largest all-season resorts. There are various opportunities to enjoy the great outdoors here, despite the fact that it is only 90 minutes from New Chitose Airport. Since its establishment in 1988, the Ice Village, a village of ice that is only open in the winter, has been synonymous with Tomamu's winter season. Each of the ice domes on the 3.2-hectare property offers a unique experience that takes advantage of the cold. In the area, you can find the Ice Bar, which has a bar counter and cellar constructed entirely of ice, and the Ice Chapel, which has an ice and snow facade, altar, cross, and aisle. Guests can soak in an icy open-air hot spring and sleep in an icy bed at the Ice Hotel, in which one couple per day can stay overnight. Craving some exercise? The Ice Village also offers a variety of winter activities. Visitors can enjoy some thrilling fun of the Ice Zipline, flying for 60 meters the sky from the observation platform while watching people skating on the rink below. Other activities include ice skating and the Ice Slide, all created by the natural cold of the environment. Finally, a plunge into the fluffy powder snow is a must to finish off your perfect winter experience here! Everything here is made possible only in Tomamu because of how their temperature drops to minus 30 degrees Celsius. Every year, the Tomamu Ice Village introduces new features to improve the experience, so be sure to see what's new this year!
