Lake Shikotsu

Hot springs, sightseeing boats, canoeing, fishing, bike rentals, and other fun activities

Lake Shikotsu is an east-west caldera lake with a circumference of about 40 km and is designated as Shikotsu-Toya National Park. The Lake Shikotsu Hot Spring is one of Hokkaido's representative hot spring resorts, and from mid-April to early November, sightseeing boats are available for a 30-minute cruise on the lake. There are three types of pedal boats: the swan type, the duck type, and the "Amenbou" which feels like pedaling a bicycle. Canoe touring is recommended if you want to experience the lake in a more active way, and since the ban on fishing for trout is lifted from June to the end of August, you can try your hand at boat fishing and rock fishing for a fee. You can also rent bicycles at the Lake Shikotsu Visitor Center or the Holiday Village Shikotsu.
