Tsurui Itoh Tancho Sanctuary

A sanctuary where beautiful cranes are gently watched and protected

The Tsurui Itoh Tancho Sanctuary is a base for activities to protect the cranes and their habitat. The feeding area is visited by many cranes between November and the end of March every year. During the year-end and New Year's holidays, about 250 cranes fly in, and in February, you can see a lot of courtship dancing, so you can see them in a variety of forms each season. At the nature center adjacent to the feeding area, rangers from the Wild Bird Society of Japan are always on hand to give explanations.
