"Japan's Industrial Heritage of Modernization" tells the history of Kitami Hakka to this day.
The production of Kitami Hakka, which started around 1902, reached its peak in 1939, and has grown to account for about 70% of the global market for Hakka. The Kitami Hakka Memorial Museum and Kitami Hakka Distillery is a museum that tells the history of the Hakka industry that laid the foundation of Kitami. In the museum, there are many materials related to Hakka, such as specimens of dried Hakka and Hakka products from all over the world. In the Hakka Distillery, a separate building, you can watch a demonstration of the distillation of Hakka. On the third Sunday of every month, "Hakka Day," fun events such as mint tea service are held.
