Chinita Mingei Shop

This is an Ainu folk art store run by Ms. Kayoko Nishida, who is responsible for many of the costumes used in the puppet shows performed at the Akan Ainu Theater Ikoro, and her husband. Ms. Kayoko is a leading embroiderer of Ainu patterns and has won numerous awards at Hokkaido's traditional craft exhibitions. In addition to her original Ainu embroidered products such as coasters, tapestries, and aprons, the store is lined with Ainu folk crafts that are sure to make you happy just looking at them. There are also many books about the Ainu people.
