Shiriuchi

The Shiriuchi Town Souvenir Hall is attached to the former JR Shiriuchi Station. From the Shinkansen Observation Tower, you can see the entrance and exit of the Seikan Tunnel, as well as the Hokkaido Shinkansen running alongside the waiting freight trains at the section shared by trains. In the Souvenir Hall, where fresh vegetables and processed seafood products from Shiriuchi are sold, the most eye-catching item is the Oppai Manju (breast-shaped steamed bun). This confection is named after the legend of Ubasugi, a sacred cedar tree in Shiriuchi Park, where a woman suffering from the lack of breast milk began to produce it after visiting the shrine.
