Historic Site Ohfune Ruins

Be healed by nature at the magnificent ruins

The site is the remains of a large-scale settlement that was established in the middle of the Jomon period (about 5500-4000 years ago), and was designated as a national historic site in 2001 after it attracted attention during excavations conducted in 1996. The area around the ruins is surrounded by the sea, mountains, and rivers, leaving behind a rich natural environment. In the fall, you can watch the salmon run up the Ohfune River, and upstream, you can enjoy natural hot springs at the Hotel Hirome-so and the recreation center.
