Lake Kuttara

Lake Kuttara is a beautiful lake that has been recognized by the Ministry of the Environment as having the highest water quality and clarity among all lakes in Japan. It is designated as a special area of the Shikotsu-Toya National Park, and the spectacular seasonal scenery of the lake and virgin forest is so beautiful that it has been chosen as a location for TV commercials and other filming. To protect the environment, the area is closed to large buses, and the silence makes the lake even more mysterious.
