Onuma Quasi-National Park

The only national park in southern Hokkaido that has preserved its primitive form.

A place full of beautiful natural scenery, Onuma Quasi-National Park is known for its active volcano, Mt. Komagatake, and the large and small swamps created by its eruptions. Skunk cabbages bloom in the spring, and water lilies add color to the surface of the lake in the summer. A leisurely outing on the lake in a rowing boat is a great way to enjoy the beauty of Hokkaido's varied nature. Renting a bicycle and taking a pleasant tour along the lakeside path is also popular.
