Shiretoko Five Lakes
The Shiretoko Five Lakes, with their spectacular reflections of the Shiretoko mountain range and virgin forest on the water
The Shiretoko Five Lakes, one of the Eight Views of Shiretoko, are a set of five beautiful lakes of different sizes surrounded by virgin forest. A three-kilometer above-ground trail takes you on a leisurely stroll around the lakes, and from the 800-meter-long elevated wooden walkway, which allows visitors to safely enjoy the scenery even in the event of a bear encounter, you can see the lakes up close and have a panoramic view of the Shiretoko mountain range and the Sea of Okhotsk. The sight of the Shiretoko mountain range reflected on the surface of the lakes is sure to fascinate you with its beauty. These lakes are also a great place to see claw marks of brown bears, holes made by the black woodpecker, and many other plant and animal life.
