Furepe Falls
Mysterious waterfalls flowing down from the cliffs of Shiretoko's Eight Natural Views
This unusual waterfall is formed by the snow and rain that fall on the Shiretoko mountain range, with water passing through the ground and gushing out of the cracks in the cliffs. Because it looks like tears spilling down, it is also known with the romantic name of Maiden's Tears. There is also a walking course where you can admire the unique coastal cliffs of Shiretoko, and, if you are lucky, you may see Ezo deer or wild birds. During the snowy season, you can also enjoy trekking with walking skis or snowshoes.
