Shirogane Blue Pond
The sight of the withered larch trees in a deep blue pond is quite mysterious.
The Shirogane Blue Pond is a mystical view spot where the green of the surrounding forest and the withered larch trees are reflected in the blue water. This phenomenon is said to be caused by the aluminium contained in the underground water gushing from Shirahige Falls, which mixes with the Biei River and makes water look blue when light is reflected in it. You can see the shining blue river from the Blue River Bridge at the confluence of Shirahige Falls and the Biei River.
