Cape Noshappu

Heart-wrenching beauty! A view point where you can see a memorable sunset!

Noshappu Cape, located on the Soya Strait, is where you can see the silhouette of Sakhalin to the east and take in a sweeping view of Rishiri and Rebun Islands right before you. The iconic Wakkanai Lighthouse, the tallest in Hokkaido and the second tallest in Japan, is a symbol of the area. This cape is also renowned as a scenic sunset spot, comparable to the West Coast’s “Yuhigaoka Observatory (Sunset Hill Observatory).” During twilight, it serves as a romantic destination for couples. Nearby, you’ll find the Wakkanai Youth Science Museum and Noshappu Cold Current Aquarium, offering plenty of opportunities for sightseeing. (Photo courtesy of Kita Hokkaido DMO)
