Goryokaku Park
One of the best cherry blossom viewing spots in southern Hokkaido, where the whole area turns pink.
Designated as a National Special Historic Site, Goryokaku Park used to be the last stronghold of the old Shogunate army and the scene of fierce battles, but now it is a healing spot where local people recharge their energy. If you're visiting on a trip, why not take an imaginary tour of modern history while gazing at the stone moat? If you are not interested in history, you can enjoy the seasonal flowers such as cherry blossoms, wisteria and azaleas, at your leisure. Goryokaku Park is one of the most popular cherry blossom viewing spots in the southern part of Hokkaido, but don't forget to check out other annual events such as the Goryokaku Festival and the outdoor plays.
