Kitakogane Shell Mound Park

Kitakogane Shell Mound is a settlement site with shell mounds located on a small hill overlooking Eruption Bay. It is one of the largest shell mounds in Hokkaido, and the entire site is well preserved. In addition to a large number of fish bones and shellfish, human graves and the remains of rituals involving the collection of animal skulls have also been found, providing basic materials for research into the origins of human life in Hokkaido.
