Takikawa Rape Blossom Field

A vast field of rape blossoms that turn the earth yellow.

Rape seed cultivation began to flourish in Takikawa City about 30 years ago, and the city now boasts one of the largest areas of rape seed cultivation in Japan. From mid-May to late May, when rape blossoms are in full bloom, the city is filled with rape blossoms that look like a yellow carpet spreading all over the city. The "Takikawa Rape Blossom Festival," which is held in conjunction with the blooming season, is an event that allows visitors to fully enjoy Takikawa in spring with its vast field of rape blossoms, attracting many tourists from Japan and abroad.
