Furano Wine Factory

A famous winery in Furano, one of Japan's leading wine-growing regions.

Hokkaido is a major producer of grapes for wine, and Furano in particular produces high quality grapes by taking advantage of the temperature differences unique to a basin region. More than 10 Furano Wine products have won prizes at the Japan Wine Competition, which brings together wineries from all over Japan, and in 2009 the winery won the silver medal in the white wine category. The red-roofed wine factory, which is located on the Budo-ga-Oka hill, is a great place to observe the wine making process and aging.
