Hakodate Seikan Tsushin Kaisen Memorial Museum Mashu Maru
A panoramic view of Mount Hakodate and the city of Hakodate
Along with the Hakkoda Maru and Yotei Maru, the Mashu Maru was one of the last ships to sail on the Seikan Line. The ship is now berthed at Hakodate Port as a museum ship and is open to the public. The ship's wheelhouse and radio communication room, where the captain commanded the ship, have been preserved in their original state, and the green reserved seats and regular seats have been restored and are on display. In addition to the "History of the Seikan Bridge" exhibition room, which explains the ship's long history with models and panels, there is also a "Ship Mechanism" exhibition room where visitors can learn about the structure of the ship with models, actual parts and videos, and a "Salon" that offers a panoramic view of Hakodate Port and Mount Hakodate.
