Esan Azalea Park

A large cluster of azaleas that turn the entire mountain crimson!

The area around the foot of Mount Esan, an active volcano and the symbol of the Esan region, is home to about 600,000 Ezo yamatsutsuji (Japanese azalea) and sarasadodans, which bloom from late May to early June, turning the surface of the mountain red. The contrast between the fresh greenery, the rocky surface, the sea, the blue sky, and the azalea flowers is impressive! Don't miss the azaleas at Esan, which are said to be the most beautiful sight in southern Hokkaido in early summer.
