Washo Market

The Washo Market, located on the west side of JR Kushiro Station, is a retail market with about 50 stores, including fresh fish stores, fruit and vegetable stores, confectionary stores, salted and dried fish stores, delicacy stores, meat stores, and restaurants. The market is full of energy, with lively shouting here and there. The specialty of the market is the Katte Rice Bowl, where you can buy your favorite seafood and put it on rice to make your own original seafood bowl. When you are full, you can also enjoy coffee and sweets in the market. In order to keep the fish fresh, some stores will sell you a whole fish, which they will cut and sell on the spot.
