Ainu Traditional Dance / Lost Kamuy

At Lake Akan Ainu Kotan you can watch traditional Ainu traditional dances, which are designated as an Important Intangible Folk Cultural Asset. The village has a permanent theater called the Lake Akan Ainu Theater Ikor, where the Akan Yukar Lost Kamuy, a fusion of ancient dance, modern dance and digital art, is performed. Japanese actress and singer Mari Natsuki, who has been involved in many stage performances as a performer and director, has provided directorial support and narration for this production, which can now be enjoyed as a completely new show. The village also offers a variety of hands-on programs, such as making Mukkuri, an Ainu traditional musical instrument, wood carving, and embroidery of Ainu patterns.
